Activities
A diverse and dynamic recreation program with activities for residents of all ages and during all seasons is offered through the Recreation and Parks Department under the leadership of recreation professionals.

Registration
Registration for all the department's programs is available at its office where, for a nominal fee, a park photo identification card for summer use of the tennis courts and swimming pools will be issued to each family member. Use of these public facilities is restricted to residents of the Town of Bedford but guests of residents who hold a current, valid Photo ID card are permitted to use the facilities for a fee. Details are available at the Recreation Office.

Summer Season
Traditionally, the summer recreation season begins with the opening of the Bedford Hills Pool on Memorial Day weekend with the Bedford Village and Katonah pools opening in mid-June. Residents can enjoy any of the Town's three parks including tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic and swimming pool facilities.

For children
Younger children can be enrolled in a "Tiny Tots" camp program offered weekdays in each of the hamlet elementary schools. Elementary school aged children can enroll in the Summer Day Camp where the program also includes swimming lessons.

Through the North East Westchester Special Recreation program, there are also several day camps available for children with special needs, ages 5 through 21.

Senior Citizens
Senior Citizens participate in regularly scheduled meetings and programs in each hamlet. A variety of activities such as informational presentations, crafts, dance and exercise, movies, social functions, special programs and parties are offered.

Free transportation is offered by the department for local shopping and special trips to restaurants, tourist attractions and theaters. A Senior Citizen Nutrition Program and a home delivered Meals on Wheels Program are offered through an agreement with the Village of Mt. Kisco.

Seasonal Activities
During the other seasons of the year, a variety of activities are offered in the areas of athletics and sports, music, art, dance pre-school activities and special events.

Among the traditional events are:
Family Valentine Contest
Sprint Egg Hunt
Halloween Events and Goblin Call
Thanksgiving Mixed Nut Contest
Breakfast with Frosty and Friends
Fishing Derby
'People in the Parks,' a summer entertainment series for the entire family.

Parks
In addition to its three very active parks, the Town has two passive parks and the parks department also maintains bikeways, greenbelts, cemeteries and historic properties.

Maintenance of baseball and soccer fields is one of the major responsibilities of this department.

Employment Opportunities
In order to staff these programs the Recreation Department is always looking to hire persons with a special talent to conduct a recreation program.
